The Fringe believes in reaching beyond the scope of the salon industry in order to find ways to play a greater role in the community. To this end we are proud to sponsor the Angel Hair for Kids program.
Angel Hair for Kids provides human hair wigs for children from financially disadvantaged families who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, burns and Alopecia Areata.
The Fringe Hair Company is a chapter of and designated Western Canadian salon for the collection of human hair.

- Each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.

- 10,000 children in Canada will lose their hair to the ravages of cancer treatments, burn accidents or Alopecia this year. Hair loss in children, especially during a time when they already find themselves struggling with painful and difficult medical conditions, can have a devastating effect on their self-esteem.
At any given time, Angel Hair for Kids has between 5 and 10 applications waiting to be processed and the demand is increasing. These requests come primarily from Sick Children's Hospitals, the Canadian Cancer Society and Social Workers in the community.
Each wig is hand made from approximately twelve (12) donated human hair pony tails, costing a minimum of $800.00 each.
Under the Angel Hair for Kids Program, funding is now available for qualifying Calgary area children who are in need of hair prosthesis and wigs, due to medical illness. Each child in need will be assessed through a committee appointed by the Foundation, after referral from our local medical community or social work team. Once qualified, the child will be contacted by The Fringe Hair Company and an appointment made for a private consultation (concerning measuring, colour, style etc.).
The Fringe Hair Company has an ongoing commitment to the Angel Hair for Kids Program and as the Calgary Chapter asks for your assistance in referring any and all children in need.
